When should you use the 100KB target?
Use this page when a particular upload field explicitly asks for a PDF under 100KB. This is a small budget for an entire document. A short form or a simple one-page scan is a better starting point than a long report, a photograph or a page covered in fine print.
Check the original size first. If it already meets the requirement and opens correctly, you may be able to submit it unchanged. An extra compression pass can discard detail and document features without helping your application. If a larger limit is permitted, use that limit instead of choosing 100KB by habit.
Why several pages are harder to fit
The 102,400-byte cap covers the whole PDF, including its structure. Two pages share that budget; ten pages do not get ten separate 100KB allowances. More pages, colored backgrounds and detailed images leave less room for the small marks you need to read.
Start with a simple source
A straight, tightly framed scan with a plain background can be easier to compress than a photograph of the same sheet on a patterned desk. Grayscale can help when color is optional. Keep all required edges, stamps and signatures inside the scan.
Protect required details
Fine text, ID numbers and faint stamps can become soft at a small target. This tool rebuilds each page as an image and cannot tell which details matter to your recipient. A small file is not useful if the document can no longer be read.
Measured examples at the 100KB target
These are two self-made test PDFs, with invented text and image-based pages. They contain no personal documents. Both were deliberately saved as large scans so we could compare the same inputs at different limits.

These results show what happened to these samples, not a typical saving or a promise for your file. Browser versions and document content can change the output. A reached target only confirms size; review text, images and required details separately.
If your PDF stays above 100KB
Target not reached means the tool found a smaller output, but the available settings did not bring it below the cap. Downloading that result does not make it compliant. If no setting produces a smaller file at all, the tool reports Could not reduce this PDF.
Look for blank pages and accidental duplicates in the source. Remove them only if the recipient does not require them. Rescan from the original document if the current image is blurred or includes unnecessary background. Split documents only when the form permits separate uploads. This compressor does not edit, crop or split PDFs.
Repeatedly compressing the same image-based output can make it harder to read. Return to the original when trying a different target. If every page is required and 100KB is mandatory, ask the recipient for an accepted alternative rather than submitting a file with missing pages or illegible text.

Can every PDF be compressed below 100KB?
No. The output depends on page count and image detail. Check the result status and exact size; this is a target, not a guarantee.
Will my PDF keep selectable text?
This tool creates image-based pages. Selectable text, search, links, forms and annotations can be lost. Use another method when those features are required.
What should I inspect before uploading?
Open every downloaded page. Check names, numbers, dates, signatures and stamps at normal viewing size, then zoom into fine details. Confirm page order and make sure nothing is blank or cropped. Target reached confirms file size only.
Can I enter a custom 100,000-byte limit?
No. The available targets are 100KB, 200KB, 500KB and 1MB, using 1024-based units. If a destination requires 100,000 bytes, compare the actual output with that number and do not rely only on Target reached.
